Take a seat and relax. Fancy a cafe latte? Now, let’s share some ideas …
Suntory Boss Coffee
There’s a familiar, craggy face lurking on the vending machines, billboards, convenience store shelves and commercials here in Japan. That face belongs to none other than Tommy Lee Jones, the Hollywood hard man known for his roles in films like Men in Black and No Country for Old Men. But in Japan, Jones is probably more known for being the iconic, enduring face of Suntory’s Boss Coffee than he is recognized for his film roles.
Japanese Poster Design
From the hands of Edo period artisans carving scenes into woodblocks to the high-speed digital printers of today, the history of posters in Japan is quite a fascinating narrative of cultural evolution. It's a visual story that began with the ‘ukiyo-e’, picturesque prints that were mainly being used to convey news, advertise products, theaters, and -cough- brothels. Fast forward to today’s kaleidoscopic spectacle of modern-day visuals that continue to charm and inform commuters and city dwellers.
Tokyo Midtown
To anyone that’s ever been to Tokyo, one thing becomes immediately apparent. This city is not only extremely organized, it’s visually very pleasing and exceptionally designed. Especially when it comes to architecture, from traditional shrines to innovative masterpieces, Tokyo certainly earns its place amongst the top global architectural hubs. But there is one architectural complex that soars above the pack. Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi.

What does it mean to be a Creative Leader?
It’s about having a vision that is based on listening first. A vision that is big enough to fit other point of views within it, empathetic enough to sense how others perceive it and humble enough to know when it needs to be adjusted. It’s about truly believing in others and working with them in an empowering manner, inspiring them to constantly have higher standards. Nothing beats getting someone to truly believe in themselves and capabilities after seeing how much you already do.
Think different & unlock new perspectives.
In 1979 Australian, Stuart McArthur, sought to confront "the perpetual onslaught of 'downunder' jokes—implications from Northern nations that the height of a country's prestige is determined by its equivalent spatial location on a conventional map of the world.
Creative opportunities come from observation.
“You see, but you do not observe. The distinction is clear.” Yet another one of the astute quips Sherlock Holmes offers to Watson. Creative thinking comes from intentionally being aware of the situations we go through day to day, and how we chose to interpret them, whether passively or actively. But, how can we train our thinking to see what is familiar in an unfamiliar way?
Inspiration takes work.
(Fun work, I promise!) One of the common misconceptions around 'inspiration' and the act of it manifesting in one's being, is regarding it as a form of passive divine intervention that seems to appear out of thin air. And even-though that occasionally maybe the case and that we may not necessarily control when and how it happens, but understanding the context in which inspiration occurs (before and during) is quintessential if we want to be inspired more often.
Your creativity has no limits
A perfect embodiment for that would be one of the most important protagonists in the field of creativity and design, Massimo Vignelli who was famous for his phrase “Design is one”.The cool & modernist Italian was the living embodiment of the limitless nature of true creativity.
Think inside the IKEA Box.
Before we all went to Ikea for the umpteenth time, before the meatballs and cinnamon rolls, before all the countless hours of assembling furniture together joyfully (and nervously!), before the massive Swedish invasion of our homes across the world, before all of that was the conception of a unique intuitive business model …
What can a Billboard do?
I consider out of home advertising to be the medium with the most creative potential. Your brand is in public space, you have a 2D/3D canvas and surrounding environment to work with, that’s a lot of power. But, as that cheesy line from the 1st Spiderman film goes “With great power, comes great responsibility”.
Think & Create like a Brazilian.
I've always been fascinated with Brazilian culture. The friendliness of the people, the colours, the rhythm, the beaches, the Bossa nova. It's simply hard not to love their culture as it exudes a richness and warmth that's so inviting. A richness that is duly reflected in the quality of advertising they passionately create.
Pressure makes diamonds.
In the creative business we occasionally find ourselves in situations where we're faced with the reality of a limited amount of time to do what we do best, properly. And that leads to pressure.Pressure, from tight deadlines to sudden pitches is a part of our business whether we like it or not, it's up to us in how choose to deal with it though. In a nutshell, there's 3 approaches we can take.

Disposable work leads to disposable brands.
Monocle Magazine changed the idea of what a magazine was. Disposable. We goto newsstands, pick up a mag, it lays about our pad in Rabat, comes with us to the office in WanChai, we pull it out for a quick read on the Tube, we bury our face in it in the Swiss Senator Lounge in Geneva to escape unwanted interactions. And when we're done, we toss it away. Sayonara!

The Case for a new Canadian Identity
Our flag is simple, timeless and powerful. Since its’ unveiling, It has proudly represented generation after generation of Canadians throughout the years, at home and abroad. But, just as millions of Canadians gaze upon our national flag with pride, there’s also millions of Canadians who don’t feel any pride, or association whatsoever to the Red Maple Leaf Flag. In fact, quite the opposite.
Experiment to become more creative.
True creativity is a state of flow, a series of moments where things just start to make more and more sense, where stars align, patterns become obvious and new epiphanies come to light. One of the blessings (and curses) the best creatives I know all seem to have in common, is that desire to keep pushing the envelope. To keep striving for more, and in the creative world, that means more experimentation.
The Power of Persistence.
Except the Wright brothers. These two brothers from Dayton, Ohio are the pioneers of modern aviation as most of us know. But what a lot of us are not familiar with is the insane amount of persistence they exhibited to realize their dream.
